Saint Theophilus was bishop of Antioch and author of the three-book work To Autolycus. Addressing an educated pagan friend, he defends belief in the one invisible Creator, explains the Christian reading of Genesis, and contrasts biblical revelation with pagan mythology. His work contains one of the earliest surviving Christian uses of terminology related to the Trinity. Little reliable biographical information survives beyond his episcopal office and writing.
