Saint Fulgentius was a North African monk and bishop of Ruspe who defended Nicene and Augustinian theology under Vandal rule. He endured exile in Sardinia and wrote against Arianism as well as on grace, predestination, and the Incarnation. His style and thought were deeply influenced by Augustine. Fulgentius helped transmit Augustinian theology into the early medieval Latin West.
