Didymus was a learned Christian teacher in Alexandria who lost his sight in childhood but mastered Scripture and theology through listening and memory. He wrote biblical commentaries and works on the Trinity and Holy Spirit and influenced figures such as Jerome and Rufinus. Some of his theology was later associated with disputed Origenist positions, and much of his writing was lost. Modern manuscript discoveries have recovered portions of his commentaries.
